A modell nem tagadja, hogy maga is szerkesztgette a fotóit. Körülbelül egy éve kezdte el, hogy több követőt szerezzen, ám egy idő után ez egyfajta nyomássá alakult számára.
Végül már azt vette észre, hogy szinte teljesen kiretusálja minden bőr- és testhibáját: az aknét, a hegeket, a striákat mind eltüntette. Ha bikinis képet tett fel, előtte vékonyabbá szerkesztette a csípőjét, hogy még csinosabbnak tűnjön.
Mindez akkor változott meg, amikor Niát felkérte az Aerie fehérneműmárka, hogy legyen a kampányuk arca. A cég 2014 óta nem használ Photoshopot és nem "nyúl bele" a modellekről készített képekbe. A lány nagyon meglepődött, amikor a sminkes elmondta neki, hogy nem szerkesztik meg a fotókat.
"Azt gondoltam, te jó ég, a striáim és a fenekem ott lesznek a Times Square-en, egész Amerikában és a közösségi médiában! Aztán arra gondoltam, hogy ha már a Times Square-ig eljutottam Photoshop nélkül, ami egy hatalmas siker, miért nem tehetem ezt meg az Instagramon is?"

Didn't want #myrealselfseptember to past by. For me it doesn't get any more real than messy curls, no makeup on, & the first jeans and shirt i find. We get so caught up in fashion and beauty trends that we soemtimes become disappointed with what we see in the mirror when we don't have makeup on or any other trends.
